Case 08 / 18
Qantas

The challenge
As part of a large IT replatforming project, Qantas brought together a new UXD team to evaluate and redesign content, journeys and touch points across qantas.com, starting from a brand new brand guide.

My role
I was a UI Designer in an agile, lean UX team. Day to day that meant sketch sessions, workshop facilitation, rapid prototyping, user testing and presenting to stakeholders.

Choosing where to focus
Rather than redesign everything at once, we focused on the journeys and UI elements that would make the biggest difference to business objectives. The one I spent most time on was the site masthead and navigation system, the part of the site every customer touches.

Prototyping fast
We worked in short cycles, building interactive prototypes in InVision, Framer and Marvel so ideas could be tested within days rather than weeks.

Testing in the terminal
We had an ideal testing setup. Most Friday afternoons we spoke with Qantas travellers waiting for their flights: real customers, with a few spare minutes and plenty of opinions. Their feedback shaped each round of prototypes.
